Some Year 6 children had the wonderful opportunity to visit the University of Warwick Department for Computer Science on Wednesday. The full day consisted of workshops created and ran by Technocamps where we explored the work of Welsh naturalist, Alfred Russel Wallace, by discussing his theory of evolution.
As part of the workshop, the children built on their prior knowledge by exploring evolution and adaptation before programming a butterfly catching game in Scratch. Following this, the children discussed AI (Artificial Intelligence) and were able to train their own computer model to recognise different species of animals using Machine Learning for Kids.
The children were fully engaged in the activities throughout the day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
