In September, our Year 3 Griffins enrolled onto the Chance to Dance Programme in association with the Royal Opera House. The aim of the project is to broaden and diversify the pool of young people with potential in ballet and provide them pathways to nurture or develop their talents.
Since their initial introduction, some children who were excelling or showing interest in this area, began attending weekly workshops with specialist ballet teachers to develop and refine their dance skills. During half term, these selected children then attended intensive rehearsals where they choreographed their own piece to perform at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham on Thursday. The theme for their dance was ‘journeys of hope’ and reflected on the feelings of refugees escaping danger and finding safety.
The Year 3 children were amazing throughout the whole process and we were so proud of their behaviour and performances on Thursday. Please see some attached photos taken during rehearsals and a link to their performance!
