Our Year 3 Griffins had an unforgettable school trip to Bosworth Battlefields, packed with hands-on learning and exciting experiences that truly brought history to life. The day began with an immersive workshop on the Roman Empire, where the children discovered what it was like to be part of a Roman army. They had the incredible opportunity to try on Roman armour and step into the role of soldiers, practising drills with their own swords and shields. It was fantastic to see their confidence grow as they worked together and experienced a taste of life as a Roman legionary.
The adventure continued as the children became archaeologists, exploring a range of Roman artefacts and learning how historians uncover clues about the past. One of the highlights was creating their own Roman coins from clay, which sparked lots of creativity and curiosity. Later, they met Queen Boudicca, who shared fascinating insights into life as a Celt before and after the Roman invasion. She introduced the children to foods that the Romans brought to Britain and guided them in making their own masks. The day ended with the pupils embracing their inner Celt warriors, practising battle stances and fully immersing themselves in this rich and exciting period of history.
