After some fantastic entries to our Year 5 competition, a select number of Griffins were chosen to represent Park Lane amongst other Griffin Schools Trust schools as part of the Griffin Arts Festival residential. They had the most glorious few days exploring various art forms with trips around the West Midlands.
They kickstarted the celebrations in Stratford on a tour with the Royal Shakespeare Company having the opportunity to visit William Shakespeareās birth place. They enjoyed sketching buildings around Stratford and exploring a new area. This was followed by a drama workshop where our Griffins acted out various scenes from Shakespeareās Midsummer Nights Dream.
The following day they began their exploration of Birmingham City Centre. This included a trip to Lapworth Museum of Geology; an architectural tour including visiting the Symphony Hall, Centenary Square and Birmingham Library; and also a trip to the Botanical Gardens. At the Botanical Gardens, they created some beautiful pieces of art using natural resources similarly to the work of iconic artist Andy Goldsworthy.
They concluded their visit to Birmingham by visiting the Ikon Gallery. During this time, they were able to create their own pieces of abstract art using mirror and light to design a masterpiece.
All Griffins that represented Park Lane were extremely well behaved throughout their visit and had the most enjoyable experience!
