Our Year 5 Griffins had an unforgettable time on their Griffin Arts Festival residential, exploring the vibrant city of Birmingham and immersing themselves in a world of creativity, culture, and fun!

The week began with sightseeing in the city centre – including a stop at the iconic Bull in Grand Central – before heading to the Birmingham Royal Ballet for an exciting dance workshop. Not only did the children learn new moves, but they also choreographed their very own routines, showing incredible teamwork, confidence, and flair!

A visit to the beautiful Botanical Gardens inspired some truly stunning large-scale artwork, created from natural materials like leaves, petals, and sticks. Each child then crafted a personal piece to take home, proudly working together and demonstrating a real passion for the arts.

The creative journey continued with a trip to the Ikon Gallery and an architectural walk around the city, where the children sketched the impressive buildings and explored key landmarks including the Birmingham Library and the ‘Floozie in the Jacuzzi’ fountain. A hands-on sensory session at Lush added a splash of colour and excitement, with bath bombs, soaps, and even a surprise massage for the staff!

No trip would be complete without a little shopping and a sweet treat – the children loved choosing gifts and visiting the brand-new Jellycat store before enjoying doughnuts and live music from local buskers.

The week ended on a high with a glamorous gala at Nicholas Chamberlaine, where our Griffins dressed to impress and danced the night away to the sounds of the amazing Willow Tree Dance Band – a truly magical finale to a creative and joy-filled adventure.

A heartfelt thank you to Miss Wincote and Miss Hone for their incredible support throughout the residential. We’re so proud of our Year 5s – they embraced every opportunity with energy, curiosity, and a wonderful sense of fun!
