Year 1 had a fantastic trip to the Black Country Living Museum as part of their ‘School Days’ history topic!
The children travelled back in time to explore a Victorian town, visiting traditional shops, riding on an old-fashioned red double-decker bus and discovering what life was like in the past. Some of our Year 1 Griffins even stepped inside an old-fashioned cinema, where they enjoyed watching a classic black and white movie
To end the day, the children took part in a Victorian school lesson. They learned about the subjects children would have studied and explored a real Victorian classroom. Mr Griffiths showed us just how strict schools were in those days — even some of our teachers were told off for wearing nail polish!
Our Year 1 children decided they were very glad their school isn’t quite like a Victorian one today!
A wonderful day full of history, curiosity and memorable experiences for all
